Abstract

Developing students’ vocabulary proficiency is a critical endeavor in the field of education. The consensus among researchers is that Arabic students have a limited vocabulary, which consequently impacts their language proficiency. This study aims to investigate an effective way to enhance the Arabic language vocabulary size among students in Islamic Secondary Schools (Sekolah Menengah Agama – SMA) in the Temerloh district, Pahang. This study is qualitative research that includes 10 Arabic language teachers from SMA in the Temerloh area of Pahang as participants. The participants were chosen by the purposive sampling method. The primary method used for collecting data was a semi-structured interview protocol. Afterwards, the gathered data were analyzed thematically using the Atlas.ti program. The results suggest that instructional methods, such as utilizing the singing technique and engaging in exercises, can augment the extent of one's vocabulary. In addition, vocabulary expansion is facilitated by external resources
