Abstract

This study maps the development of research on Qur’anic recitation indexed in Scopus from 1974 to 2025. The study focuses on publication trajectories, thematic patterns, major source titles, and geographical distribution. The final Scopus refine-results file supplied for the study reports 272 records after applying the database query and filters for publication year, final publication stage, document type, and language. The exported query used the TITLE-ABS-KEY field with the term “quran recitation”, rather than the broader search string reported in the earlier manuscript. Descriptive analysis was conducted using Microsoft Excel, while the manuscript also draws on previously generated VOSviewer mapping for thematic interpretation. The updated annual distribution shows 2 records for 1974–1999, 12 for 2000–2009, 28 for 2010–2015, 81 for 2016–2020, 133 for 2021–2024, and 16 records for 2025. The source-title facet identifies Quranica, Journal of Religion and Health, IEEE Access, Journal of Qur’anic Studies, Dirasat Human and Social Sciences and Religions among the most frequently represented sources. Malaysia records the largest country-affiliation count (56), followed by Indonesia (48), Saudi Arabia (40), Jordan (26) and the United States (26). The findings indicate sustained interdisciplinary expansion while also demonstrating the importance of aligning bibliometric claims with the exact Scopus query and exported metadata.
